KHRC HOLDS STRATEGIC PLAN REVIEW MEETING FOR THE YEAR 2023

The Kintampo Health Research Centre on 12th January, 2024 held a meeting to review the second year of the Centre’s five-year strategic plan. The meeting which took place at the Yakam Hotel, Kintampo was attended by the Director of the Centre, Dr. Kwaku Poku Asante and representatives from the Departments and Projects handled by the Centre.
A presentation on the Monitoring and Evaluation report for the second year (2023) of the strategic plan activities was made by the Research Enterprise Development (RED) Officer, Mr. Andrews Boakye Agyapong.
He highlighted some outcomes of KHRC activities which included building capacity of staff to conduct public health and biomedical research to influence policy and the quality of health delivery systems. Additionally, he emphasized proactive and intentional dissemination of research findings to stakeholders, improved contributions to both local and international health policy, ongoing professional development initiatives for staff, notable improvements in staff skills, dedication, and motivation to advance the Centre's agenda, and the establishment of strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing health research and building capacity.
He then presented the results of the 2023 assessment of the strategic plan activities, encompassing activities such as proposal development, policy consultation, capacity building, KHRC staff professional development, mentorship, employee welfare, strategic partnerships, and more. The review unveiled great achievements by theCentre.
Following the presentation, staff were given the opportunity to pose questions and engage in discussions. Subsequently, there was a group work session focusing on the 2024 roadmap and contributions. The session also included presentations by heads of the various projects on how roadmap items for 2024 will be achieved.
